ARTIST STATEMENT
Work-in-progress
My piece is a movement-theater piece exploring how trauma is held and moves through the body. In 2001, I was living in New York and saw the first plane go into the Twin Towers. I have struggled with severe PTSD since that time since it tapped into a fight-or-flight instinct, but also triggered body memories of war, abuse, racism, and trauma from my own history. BREAKING BORDERS is about breaking barriers within oneself, in my own quest to be whole again.
DECLARATION DEL ARTISTA
Work-in-progress
