Veronica Cordeiro is a Brazilian artist, curator and writer based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Curator of the Centro de Fotografía (CdF) for five years (2013-2017), in 2018 she left to devote herself to her organization, Sentidolab, and to her art and writing. With the support of Independent Curators International (ICI-NY), in 2011 Cordeiro introduced the idea of Curating in Context, an approach to curatorial practice which encourages year-long residency and commission-based projects with mid-career artists, working with Rosângela Rennó, Cao Guimarães, Maurício Dias & Walter Riedweg, Ananké Asseff, among others. Sentidolab explores innovative research methodologies for artists and curators through a participative pedagogical dynamic based on the idea of art as an ongoing, interdisciplinary (open) exercise of growth and freedom, intimately linked to the creative in life itself. Cordeiro studied Art History at Edinburgh University and has an MA in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London. In addition to Sentidolab, Cordeiro is currently working on a book and film about an ex-prisoner whose life transformed through art, a collection of love stories and the creation of an art and design weaving enterprise called Swing.
